The mobility ecosystem is experiencing a profound digital transformation. The increasing reliance on mobility services and Internet of Things (IoT) devices is not just reshaping how we transport people and goods but also redefining these technologies as critical infrastructure with far-reaching impacts on the macro economy and public safety.

The operational availability of mobility IoT devices plays a pivotal role in ensuring efficiencies and optimal economic conditions across various sectors. From transportation networks to smart farming and advanced construction equipment, and even electric vehicle charging infrastructure – the seamless functioning of these devices is imperative for economic stability and public safety.

However, with advanced connectivity and the rise of remotely-controlled functionalities, the scale of cybersecurity risks has dramatically expanded. The integration of IoT devices into mobility systems opens up new large-scale vulnerabilities that threat actors can exploit, posing serious threats to data security, damage to other public infrastructure systems, and even physical safety.

As we navigate this digital era of mobility, it’s crucial to prioritize cybersecurity measures that can keep pace with technological advancements. Organizations and stakeholders in the mobility sector must adopt robust strategies to mitigate risks and safeguard this critical infrastructure against potential cyber threats.
