At Upstream, we’re passionate about shaping the future of mobility, and just as passionate about the people who join us in getting there. We have some big news. We have got a new powerhouse on the Upstream team! Jennifer Tisdale has recently joined the team as our new Senior Director of Strategic Engagements, North America.

If you have been around the mobility or cybersecurity world, chances are you probably already know Jennifer. She is a respected leader, deeply connected across the industry, and brings a rare mix of Detroit roots, cybersecurity expertise, and community-building energy. In other words, she is the kind of catalyst who makes teams stronger.

To introduce her to the Upstream community, I had a chance to sit down with Jennifer for a conversation that was equal parts insightful and fun.

Transformation at Full Speed

We jumped right into what is happening across the industry, and Jennifer did not hold back.“Honestly? It is all shifting,” she laughed. “Propulsion, EV adoption, connected vehicles, autonomy, cybersecurity. You name it, it is moving faster than ever before. Consumers are cautious about how much tech goes into their vehicles, but they still expect personalization and reliability. That push-pull is putting pressure on OEMs, and AI has become the central currency in solving it all.”

She is not wrong. Everywhere you look, data and AI are the backbone of mobility’s transformation. But Jennifer’s excitement comes from watching OEMs evolve to meet this moment. “They are being forced to think differently,” she explained. “It is no longer just about hardware, it is about connectivity, software, and data. And yes, that means culture change, too. It is messy, but also really exciting to see OEMs embracing real-time environments, leveraging AI, and building stronger partnerships.”

Mobility is moving at lightning speed, and to highlight the speed of transformation, I asked Jennifer to describe the industry in just an emoji and a movie title. She didn’t hesitate. First came the emoji: 👀. “Because really, we’ve never seen anything like this.”

Then the movie: Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. Jennifer’s reasoning is, as usual, spot on. “EVs, software, data, connected infrastructure, AI, cybersecurity… It’s all happening at once, and it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.”

I had to laugh because she’s right. Some days it really does feel like you need popcorn and 3D glasses just to keep up with the show.

A Community-First Approach to Automotive Innovation

What stood out most in our conversation was Jennifer’s community-first mindset. As she put it, “I have always believed in a better-together approach. That is why I love Upstream’s role. We are not just building solutions like XDR, API Security, AutoThreat PRO, or Proactive Quality Detection. We are sharing insights, publishing our annual report and new after-sales quality report, and contributing to the broader mobility ecosystem. Collaboration is where real progress happens.”

That philosophy resonates deeply with me and with how we operate at Upstream. Our strength has always been not just in the technology we develop, but in the way we engage with the broader community to help the entire ecosystem move forward together.

And Jennifer knows a thing or two about progress. She grew up in Detroit, surrounded by a family rooted in the auto industry. “I have never seen myself as a cyber person dabbling in auto,” she explained. “I am an automotive professional working in tech.” That perspective propelled her into leading product security at Mazda North America, serving as CEO of GRIMM, and even authoring Michigan’s economic development strategy for cybersecurity.

“That blend of business, tech, and auto has always been my sweet spot,” Jennifer added. “It helps me connect with mobility leaders on their toughest challenges, whether that is cybersecurity, quality, or shifting toward software-defined vehicles.”

Why Upstream, Why Now

When I asked Jennifer why she chose Upstream, her answer was immediate and aligned perfectly with our mission: “I see Upstream at the exact intersection of automotive, big data, AI, and cybersecurity. The very place where the industry is heading. What excites me most is the opportunity to show the world that Upstream is more than a cybersecurity company. It is an AI-native data platform that not only powers cybersecurity solutions but also unlocks new possibilities in proactive quality detection, warranty optimization, insurance innovation, and beyond. By putting AI at the center, we’re enabling the industry to move faster, operate smarter, and connect in ways that were previously unimaginable.”

For me, that response captured exactly why we’re so thrilled to have her on board. Jennifer isn’t just joining the team, she’s helping lead the industry forward. We’re fortunate to have her, and I know the community will feel her impact right away.

Welcome aboard, Jennifer! Let’s buckle up, hit the accelerator, and see just how far we can go together. The journey is just getting started.
