Upstream Named One of Europe’s Top 50 Sustainable Mobility Startups

Paris, April 25, 2025 – Karima Delli, Chairwoman of the European Startup Prize for Mobility and former Chairwoman of the Transport Committee in the European Parliament, unveiled the 2025 selection of the 50 most promising sustainable mobility startups at ChangeNOW (Paris) on Friday, 25 April, alongside the Boston Consulting Group and Via ID, co-founders of the Prize.

“At Upstream, we believe that securing EV charging infrastructure is essential to accelerating the transition to sustainable mobility. We are honored to be recognized among Europe’s top sustainable mobility startups. Our AI-driven cybersecurity platform protects critical EV charging systems from cyber threats, safeguarding service availability, enhancing consumer trust, and ensuring that the future of mobility remains resilient, connected, and green.”
Ric Vicari, VP EMEA at Upstream Security

For nearly seven years, the European Startup Prize for Mobility has been identifying and ranking the most cutting-edge startups in green and smart mobility, through a rigorous methodology led by industry experts. Each year, the Prize receives between 500 and 700 applications from across Europe.

The 2025 TOP 50 reflects the most innovative initiatives accelerating the ecological transition of the transport sector in Europe.

“Each year, the European Startup Prize for Mobility proves that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand. This 2025 edition is a powerful demonstration of Europe’s entrepreneurial energy and its commitment to a greener, more connected future. These 50 startups are not only shaping the future of transport – they are shaping the future of Europe.”
Karima Delli, Chairwoman of the European Startup Prize for Mobility and former Member of the European Parliament

Each of the 50 startups (full list is available here) will now be auditioned by the Prize’s expert jury. The 10 finalists will have the opportunity to pitch at the official awards ceremony, which will take place on 5 June 2025 in Rzeszów, Poland, as part of the European Commission’s EU Industry Days and under the patronage of the Polish EU Presidency.

Securing the Future of Sustainable and Clean Mobility

The rapid adoption of electric vehicles has driven a surge in demand for EV charging stations (EVCS) and supporting applications, bolstered by government investments in charging infrastructure. While connected EVCS systems enhance operational efficiency and provide valuable data-driven insights, they also introduce new risks of cyberattacks, data breaches, and power grid disruptions. These threats not only compromise service availability but also hinder the transition to sustainable mobility by undermining trust in EV ecosystems.

Upstream’s purpose-built cybersecurity Detection & Response platform (XDR) ensures proactive cyber threat monitoring and detection, rapid response, and effective remediation to protect EV charging infrastructure. By securing this critical component of the electric vehicle ecosystem, Upstream helps enable a resilient and sustainable future for mobility.
