Upstream Launches MobilityAI, A New Community to Advance AI Innovation Across the Mobility Ecosystem

New industry initiative establishes a community network for AI and mobility leaders focused on real-world deployments, physical AI systems, cross-domain integrations, and accelerating competitiveness.

(Birmingham, Michigan, March 4, 2026)Upstream, today announced the launch of the MobilityAI Community, a new industry initiative designed to convene leaders working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, physical AI, and mobility. The community establishes a structured, non-commercial forum focused on accelerating innovation, advancing real-world deployments, and strengthening the competitiveness of organizations shaping the next phase of AI adoption across transportation, smart mobility and physical AI systems.

“The industry is entering a phase where AI is embedded across connected vehicles, physical infrastructure, and transportation services,” said Jennifer Tisdale, Upstream’s Senior Director – Strategic Engagements. “The operational and governance conversations required to support that shift often span multiple disciplines. To remain competitive, organizations must move beyond pilots and into production at scale. The MobilityAI Community was created to provide a dedicated space for candid, peer-level dialogue where leaders can exchange practical insights, share lessons learned, and collaborate on accelerating safe and scalable deployment.”

The founding chapter will be established in the greater Detroit, Michigan area Michigan’s concentration of automotive engineering, advanced manufacturing, and mobility innovation makes it a natural anchor for the community’s launch. The first gathering of the community is launched in partnership with Ann Arbor SPARK.

“Ann Arbor SPARK is proud to partner on the launch of the MobilityAI Community,” said Janis Seabolt, Director of Mobility programs, Ann Arbor SPARK. “Bringing together leaders across AI, mobility, and advanced technology aligns with our mission to support innovation and economic growth in the region. This initiative reflects the growing importance of AI in shaping the future of transportation.”

The MobilityAI Community will convene Chief AI Officers, data science and engineering leaders, advanced analytics experts, product and quality analytics executives, cybersecurity and risk professionals, autonomous systems engineers, AI-focused startup professionals, researchers, policymakers, and Physical AI vendors.

Unlike traditional industry conferences, the initiative is explicitly positioned as a no-sales forum, focused on substantive discussion rather than product promotion.

While the first chapter launches in Michigan, the long-term vision is to expand the MobilityAI Community model into additional mobility and technology hubs, creating a broader network of practitioners advancing AI-powered mobility.

Media covering automotive, artificial intelligence, transportation, robotics, advanced manufacturing, and technology policy are invited to connect with Upstream for interviews and background discussions regarding the MobilityAI Community initiative, including attendance opportunities for the community’s March 17, 2026 gathering in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
